Late Start Becomes Service Learning Wednesday

New and improved. That’s this year’s late start Wednesday for middle school students. With an emphasis on service learning, students have begun the process of brainstorming ideas to bring to the newly formed Rocky Ridge Town Forest to share with the Pittsfield Conservation Commission. Service learning focuses on the importance of community, assessment of community need, and opportunities to draw on the strengths of the community to support areas identified as needing improvement.

Students engaged in this new learning activity who meet the competencies set forth in the Extended Learning Opportunity rubrics will be awarded one half high school elective credit for their accomplishments. Be on the lookout for future updates of student progress as we continue this service learning throughout the year!
